These pieces are dedicated to shedding light on the unsung contribution that the left hand only area of piano creativity has made. They were written in 2010–11. At this present point we have CPE Bach to thank for the first dedicated left hand or right hand only piece in piano history – in the 1770s! This collection is dedicated to him and to those who saw far into a future that is still yet to fully arrive in the form of proper acknowledgment of our whole selves at the piano: Paul Wittgenstein, Phineas Newborne Jr, Geza Zichy, Leopold Godowsky, Kenny Drew Jr, Borah Bergman, Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatté and Kathleen Ryan. If you do not know these names in this specific realm of music, please research them as soon as possible.

I invite you to interpret these flexibly – the superb editing by Christopher Norton and Andrew Jones is firstly for guidance. I hope these can inspire your own single hand creativity at the piano – especially if you have not done so before now….
