Composed in the late 1880s, Debussy’s Deux Arabesques are among his earliest piano works, already hinting at the impressionistic language that would later define him. Their flowing lines and delicate shifts of harmony create music of ornamental grace, true to the title’s suggestion of fluid, decorative design. In this arrangement written for the Korros Ensemble, the harp takes on the piano’s rippling textures with natural ease, while the flute and viola/clarinet add new shades of lyricism and warmth. The combination reflects Debussy’s youthful charm through instrumental colours he would himself later explore in his Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp — making this trio feel at once fresh and entirely authentic.
