Based on the rast makam, the first part introduces melodies that are shaped by emphasizing the strong notes of the makam which resolve only on the first note of the teslim. The latter has a character unlike any known practices in Turkish music as it consists of a short melodic, harmonic or rhythmic figure that is easy to remember. The second part starts out on a mahur flavour and chooses to linger on a common note between these two makams, allowing for an exciting connection to the teslim again. The third part features the segâh flavour and fluid lines leading into the teslim. And while following the same rhythmic cycle, this section explores higher registers and proposes a dynamic range left up the performer to feel. The fifth part is somewhat of a summary of the whole piece.
